Kathmandu. The recent horrific murder in Kailali has raised serious questions about the violent trend spreading in society. A young man carrying the severed head of another young man to the police office himself is not only a crime, but also a serious sign of the social and mental state.
Such an extreme step by the criminal reflects the increasing mental stress, unemployment, drug abuse and social disorders in the country. Such incidents clearly show the need for improvement in the legal structure of the state, local administration and coordination between the community.
Now, not only police investigations, but also psychological counseling, practical education and social monitoring at the community level must be strengthened. The state needs to prioritize a policy that strengthens the spirit of dialogue and coexistence, not violence, in society.
This incident in Kailali is a warning - if we do not seriously address social discipline and mental health, such horrific crimes are sure to increase.
